Former Cubs Pitcher Glen Hobbie Dies At Age 77

Former Chicago Cubs RHP Glen Hobbie died recently at his home in Springfield, IL. He was 77 years old. Hobbie was the anchor of the pitching staff on some very bad Cubs team in the late 50's and early 60's. His best season was 1959, when he went 16-13 with a 3.69 ERA. His lifetime record was 62-81, 3.69.

Chicago Cubs 2013 First Round Pick Kris Bryant With First Pro Homer For Boise Hawks

Chicago Cubs' 2013 #1 draft pick (2nd pick overall) Kris Bryant hit his first pro home run this week for the Boise Hawks of the short season Northwest League. Bryant who went to college at the University Of San Diego is now considered the Cubs' 4th best prospect.

Junior Lake Joins Chicago Cubs With A Bang!

The Chicago Cubs recalled OF Junior Lake from AAA Iowa for Friday night's game in Colorado. All Lake did was rack up three hits in his debut (which included a double and steal of third.) Lake was originally a shortstop prospect with the Cubs and was known for his rifle arm. Scouts predicted that Lake would outgrow SS and end up in the outfield (which is exactly what happened.) Lake has hit consistently throughout the minors and could be one of the Cubs key building blocks going forward.

Chicago Cubs Prospects Progress Report #4 Arodys Vizcaino

Arodys Vizcaino is the Cubs #4 prospect in 2013 according to Baseball America. He was acquired at the 2012 MLB trade deadline from the Atlanta Braves in the Paul Maholm trade. Vizcaino was on the DL at the time the trade was made and was hurt again in 2013. He had elbow surgery and will miss all of 2013.
